Logistics Coordinator Crete, Greece
We are currently looking for a motivated individual to join us as a Logistics Coordinator, responsible for overseeing all of A Drop in the Ocean’s logistics operations in Crete. 💧
Responsibilities
Management of A Drop in the Ocean´s overall logistics at destination, such as warehouse and distributions of non-food items, hygiene products, and other basic necessities to those living in reception centers.
Supply-chain management for DiH projects at destination in communication with relevant coordinator.
Strengthen the logistics team and ensure the implementation of standardised procedures (e.g. ASSORT)
Supplier / Donor relations – ensuring smooth/ good relations.
Fleet management.
Tasks
Continuous overview of needs at location (incl. when necessary, needs assessment, SPHERE Standard compliant).
Sourcing / procurement / receiving of donations, always appropriate to the needs.
Implementation of logistics-work-oriented best-practices, ensuring smooth and efficient work.
General warehouse management, ensuring appropriate human resources are directed for objectives to be met.
Evaluation of current operations (clothes and hygiene free shops) and assessment of potential expansions .
Distribution management, including planning, communicating to community.
Ensuring relevant databases(Teams, BoxTribute) are continuously updated and GDPR compliant.
Ensuring M&E data collecting tool for area of responsibility is always up to date.
Competence and qualifications:
University degree in Business Administration, supply chain management or a related field and/or
6-month Experience and within supply chain management and warehouse management
6-month Experience of donation procurement
Driver's license valid in Greece
Willingness and ability to drive a van and support with the physical implementation of logistics tasks (e.g. offloading of the van)
Understanding of database/spreadsheet management and maintenance
Fluent in Greek and English, knowledge of language such as Farsi/Dari, French, Arabic, Somali would be an asset)
Good collaboration and team work abilities
Strong knowledge and understanding of the refugee/humanitarian context in Greece
Service minded and experience with problem solving
The Logistics Coordinator will work full-time in Heraklio, Crete

All Coordinators with A Drop in the Ocean, are travelling on their own responsibility. The successful candidate will be hired under a Greek contract for three (3) months with the possibility of extension. Applicants with a legal right to work in Greece will be considered for the position.
All field workers of the organisation must be above the age of 25 and have to provide with a valid police certificate. Insurance including travel and health is mandatory for all field workers travelling from abroad. If you live outside of Greece, you have to follow your country´s travel-advise.

A valid driver’s license (Greek/European, valid no less than 2 years) is necessary to be considered as a Coordinator.
