We are currently seeking a motivated individual for the position of Field Coordinator who will be responsible for the overall operations in Crete 💧
The Field Coordinator is responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations, strong volunteer management, and effective project implementation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site & Operations Management
Oversee A Drop in the Ocean’s operations at the Crete location.
Coordinate and support volunteers on site, ensuring appropriate placement and daily supervision.
Implement the regional strategy based on the current geopolitical and humanitarian context, following approval by the Executive Director.
Maintain strong partnerships and working relationships with other humanitarian actors and local stakeholders.
Mobilize and manage material and financial resources needed for effective program delivery, in collaboration with the Executive Director.
Supervise staff and volunteer teams, including inductions, follow-ups, exit meetings, and pre-arrival communication (in collaboration with HR).
Ensure effective management of the Logistics Coordinator (LC), including performance reviews.
Monitor the humanitarian context and needs; propose and lead assessments and new interventions in coordination with the Head of Programs.
Participate in mission-wide strategy development.
Identify fundraising opportunities and support relevant grant applications with the Executive Director.
Contribute to the organization’s visibility through location-based updates on social media.
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of equipment and donations belonging to the organization on site.
2. Project Management Responsibilities
Conduct networking to build collaborations with key actors, partners, and potential donors.
Identify partners, collaborators, and donors for project development on site.
Provide supervision and guidance for volunteers in their project-related tasks.
Facilitate weekly team meetings with volunteers and staff.
Competence and qualifications:
Master's degree in relevant field
6 months minimum as an experienced project/operations manager
Leadership skills and experience from leading multicultural teams
Proven ability to work in high paced and complex emergency environments
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Valid driver's license in Greece
Experience with problem solving
Experience from humanitarian organizations, field work and volunteer management in particular
Fluent in Greek and English, knowledge of language such as Farsi/Dari, French, Arabic, Somali would be an asset)
The Field Coordinator will work full-time in Heraklio, Crete

Starting date : Monday 5th of January 2026
All Coordinators with A Drop in the Ocean, are travelling on their own responsibility. The successful candidate will be hired under a Greek contract for three (3) months with the possibility of extension. Applicants with a legal right to work in Greece will be considered for the position.
All field workers of the organisation must be above the age of 25 and have to provide with a valid police certificate. Insurance including travel and health is mandatory for all field workers travelling from abroad. If you live outside of Greece, you have to follow your country´s travel-advise.
